The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force just lowered the recommended age for regular #mammogram screenings from 50 to 40. This is key for #breastcancer prevention and early detection that will save lives — but now the challenge is getting this simple message to patients.   Driving awareness of a new cancer screening guideline is a massive task. Millions of patients need to be informed, and the burden always falls on primary care doctors who are already overwhelmed.   The good news is technology can inform people of their risks while they are scheduling or checking in for a doctor’s appointment and encourage them to get recommended screenings. At Phreesia, we will integrate this change in guidance immediately to our patient-facing messaging to millions who need to get screened.

April has been declared National Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Month. Most people don’t experience signs or symptoms of cancer until it’s in advanced stages, but you don’t need to wait for symptoms to check your health through cancer screenings. Early detection of cancer can mean less extensive treatment, more treatment options and better chances of survival. Phreesia is proud to present patients with tailored messages that encourage them to get preventive #cancer screenings, as well as educate them on diagnostic and treatment options. Here are some of the results Phreesia-delivered campaigns have produced to date: - In a lung cancer screening campaign, patients 50-80 years old with a history of smoking were 234% more likely to get screened for lung cancer after seeing the campaign. - In a breast cancer awareness campaign, more than 80% of patients found the information they saw about breast cancer risks and screenings helpful and 72% of patients said they were likely to talk to their doctor about breast cancer risk factors after seeing the campaign. - In a colorectal cancer screening campaign, Phreesia engaged patients due or overdue for a colorectal cancer screening and found that 40% of responding patients identified risk factors that placed them at elevated risk for colorectal cancer.
